UKOA National Meeting – Recovering Eye Services: National Support & Local Delivery – Thursday 22nd July 202

Thank you for your attendance at our UKOA Meeting on Thursday 22nd July 2021!

This was our first virtual lunchtime meeting which was the start of some new shorter meetings which we hope will make it easier to access the meetings for busy colleagues.

We heard an update on the progress of the national eye care recovery and transformation programme (NECRTP) which is now moving rapidly and working actively with all regions and systems. In particular, the national team took a closer look at an area raised a number of times by members – how to influence and gain support for eye service change and business cases from trust senior managers and executives who have many competing priorities or little knowledge of the world of ophthalmology.

We welcomed colleagues from Frimley Park, who shared with us how they fared during the pandemic, how they are tackling recovery and moving to transformation, their successes and how they are dealing with ongoing challenges in their ophthalmology service, with time for questions and discussion.
