UKOA National Meeting: Recovering and Transforming Eye Services: Cataract Pathways – Monday 24th January 2022

Thank you for your attendance at our UKOA Meeting on Monday 24th January 2022!

We were delighted to invite our UKOA members to this virtual lunchtime meeting, as part of our new shorter more regular meetings which we hope make it easier to access for busy colleagues.

We heard a brief update on the progress of the national eye care recovery and transformation programme (NECRTP) with a focus on the new priorities for rapid outpatient capacity release within this financial year.

We then welcomed colleagues from Devon and Exeter, who shared with us how they have developed a new tech system with information shared via mobile phones to facilitate integrating primary care optometrists into the cataract pathway, and a welcome return to the clinical team from East Lancashire who, supported by the GIRFT clinical fellow, described the detailed work locally which has now resulted in delivery of a new high volume cataract list.

A special thanks to all of our speakers for their participation and time to make this meeting lively and engaging with a fantastic set of talks.

There was plenty of time for questions and discussion and we thank our UKOA members for engaging and utilising the chat box.
