UKOA National Meeting 26th June – Wellcome Collection, London 10am – 3pm

We were delighted to host the face to face UKOA National Meeting on 26th June 2023. We had a very exciting agenda with opportunity to join the national debate about how eye services are being improved and transformed at a national level in England, Wales and Scotland.

We heard from Wales about how they are working with GIRFT to benchmark and improve services in cataract and glaucoma. Scotland shared updates around the new Cataract Blueprint developed in conjunction with the National Centre for Sustainable Delivery of Healthcare and how local services are overcoming the many known challenges to deliver more efficient surgery using innovative approaches.

We met with the new CEO of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists who outlined how colleagues can get involved in developing the new College strategy. We were thrilled to welcome both the new College President, Ben Burton, and Professor Tim Briggs from GIRFT who outlined the challenges and potential opportunities for better eye care services for the future. There was excellent debate and discussion – allowing those leading and delivering on the ground services, along with charities representing patients, to have some meaningful dialogue with these key national leaders.

A very big thank you to everyone who attended,  below are the slides from the presentations on the day.
