West of Scotland Ophthalmology Review
Ophthalmology services across Scotland face challenges associated with rising demand, staff availability and financial constraints. There are also, however, significant opportunities that we in the West of Scotland (WoS) can draw on to sustain and improve our services.
Recognising these challenges but also the potential for positive change, the purpose of the WoS Ophthalmology Review is to develop a plan for delivery of Ophthalmology Services in the WoS in the next five years which will meet the needs of our patients, their families and our staff.
The purpose of this event is to bring together a range of acknowledged UK experts to discuss areas of mutual interest, review the WoS proposals to data, and agree the next steps for the West Region.
Key areas of focus will include; glaucoma, AMD, cataract, urgent care, new ways of working, productivity in outpatients and theatres, workforce, and understanding the benefits and challenges of networking eye care in the West of Scotland.
This event is part of a series of UKOA workshops designed to bring multidisciplinary clinical and managerial staff together across the UK for mutual support and learning.
This workshop is for medical, nursing, and optometry, AHP and management professionals working in community and acute settings in the West of Scotland. It is relevant to those in more senior, leadership or planning roles, as well as regulators and commissioners involved with ophthalmic services.
